Aragorn
(1)
made by Sapphire (2002)
This Aragorn is from the Fellowship. He was my first
LotR design and version B, together with his brother
picture, Boromir, sold very nicely at MediaWest Con
22.
In this version (A) I'm not happy at all about the hair.
And, yes, I know, he has gray eyes. I didn't know better
back then ... |

Aragorn
(2)
made by Sapphire (2003)
From the Rivendell Dream Scene in The Two Towers .
I just love the expression on his face here.
The picture was stitched half stitch over one thread
on 22ct Hardanger. Wonderful resolution, but again not
happy with the hair (what is it with Aragorn and the
hair anyway?)
Version B of that picture was sold 2004 at MediaWest
Con 24. |

Aragorn
made by Sapphire (2004)
Hail the King!
This has probably been my biggest project to date. It is based on the
movie poster for Return of the King, and it took me a little less than
half a year to finish (okay, there've been a few other projects cutting
in between, but still ...)
Happy with his hair for once (at least on the right hand side - the left
is so-so). I loved doing the sword.

Celtic
Eowyn
made by Sapphire (2005)
This is a conversion based on 'Celtic Autumn' (by Lavender & Lace). I've
changed colors and some of the layout (like the name, adding the hand with the
cup, moved some things around a bit)

Frodo
made by Sapphire (2002)
At one point I had obviously a phase with eyes ;)
Another experiment, which turned out very nicely. I did another version of this in black and white, with blue eyes, which also worked very well.
Here I had some extra fun with the framing, drawing a section of The One Ring on the matte (which, by the way, is a glossy black, not grey as in the photo)
Frodo is now at home at Nillandien's wall. |

Gandalf
made by Gisela (2006)
My longest running project of all. I do not know how many projects I did
in between, but there have been a few. So this one always took the
backseat. Originally Gandalf would not have had a background, but the
Aida fabric did turn out unfavorable for the motive, so I decided to do
some extra stitching.

Gimli
made by Gisela
This was my first attempt designing a cross stitch pattern with the computer. I was not very happy with the design at first – there was too much orange and pink for my taste. In the very end, it has become one of my favorites. The beard took the longest and cost me a lot of patience. The picture was a birthday present for a friend and found a nice place in his living room. |

Legolas
(1)
made by Sapphire (2002)
My one and only project so far done with a round frame.
Not too happy with the resolution, but still, he's recognizable.
Very limited color palette.
He's now at the friends place, the usual birthday gift
;) |

Legolas
- eyes and ears of the fellowship
made by Sapphire (2003)
Also done over one on a very fine fabric. The ear
was a pain in the butt (many details).
I just thought it appropriate for Legolas to stitch
just the eyes and the ear, as that's what he is - the
Eyes and the Ears of the Fellowship. |

Legolas
made by Bine
(8.3 x 8.3 inches), 18 count, eaven weave, half stich
The best looking elf with the prettiest hair. ;-)
My alibi project to distract my friend Mona from her real birthday gift (the manga character Takaja). |

Seek
for the Sword
made by Sapphire (2004)
This is my own design, adopted from an original
artwork done by a lady who goes by the name
of Kasiopea.
The border is 'borrowed' from Teresa Wentzler's
'Dragon Rider'.
The picture is about how Faramir (from Lord of the Rings) is saying good-bye
to his brother Boromir, who is leaving Minath Tirith to follow the dream
they both had. The poem in the dream starts with 'Seek for the Sword that
was broken, in Imladris it dwells ...', hence the name of the picture.
This is the first time I tried to adopt a picture instead of just converting
a photo with a x-stitch program. All in all, I'm fairly happy, expecially,
how the background turned out. |

The
Fellowship of the Ring
made by Sapphire (2004)
I always loved that silhouette of the Fellowship against
the mountains. I'm amazed how you can identify easily
each and every one of the characters.
Stitched over one, using only light shades of blue.
This was sold at MediaWest Con 24 - and somebody even
wanted to commission me to do another one. As I had
simply to many other projects on the line, I declined.
